Group-Centered Leadership

BYP100 exercises group-centered leadership. Accordingly, our general philosophy is that an active member feels ownership over our collective work. Both nationally and locally, we push members to take initiative in our planning and organizing, as well as create spaces for training and leadership.

BYP100 Members are Black 18-35 year old activists who:

  • Believe in the principles of democratic decision making and radical inclusivity

  • Are committed to building a Black politic in a Black queer, feminist/ womanist positive, space even if they don’t hold those specific beliefs

  • Attend an orientation meeting hosted by the current chapter or national membership committee

Active BYP100 Members:

  • Receive voting power

  • Receive campaign and project proposal power

  • Attend local and national convenings

  • Inclusion in internal communications (social media, list serves etc.)

BYP100 Members are expected to:

  • Contribute a monthly due of $10

  • Dedicate at least three hours a week to BYP100 matters

  • Take on leadership roles within the local chapter and/or national organization
